Hrishi Mittal

My personal website is now truly personal

I had my personal website hrishimittal.com on Tumblr for many years. I set it up back when Tumblr was a quirky social network popular among tech people.

I stopped posting there years ago but I left the site up.

Recently, I've been really wanting to start posting again. I write a lot in my private notes. I always have. The last few weeks I felt the urge to publish some of my thoughts.

I didn't want to use Tumblr any more - it just doesn't feel like the right place for any serious writing.

The other option was Twitter. That's where a lot of smart people still hang out.

But Twitter is too noisy and ephemeral. I wanted my own space where I can write about things I care about, without caring for dopamine hits.

I've been toying with a new CMS product idea and was planning to use it to build my site.

Today I finally moved my website off Tumblr to my own fledgling little CMS.

It's extremely simple but it's my own space and I can make it exactly how I like it without all the weird teenager social network vibes.

It feels good to be publishing again.
